South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a 21-day lock down in the wake of the rising cases of corona virus in the country which shot up to 421. This comes days after Rwanda also went on lock down in a bid to curb the spread after their cases rose to 17. Uganda has also shut it borders after confirming a rise of confirmed cases.
Kenya is set to shut down it’s air space on Wednesday after confirming that out of its 16 cases, majority of them are outsider’s who visited the country via it’s borders and it’s alleged that some refused to self quarantine and might have spread it out. Kilifi deputy governor is said to have flown to Germany and did not adhere to self quarantine and mingled with residents before being forced into self quarantine only for him to test positive to the virus. The health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said that he will face charges once he regains health for endangering civilians knowingly.
Cameroon announced a rise of the corona virus and has surpassed the above 20 cases mark in Africa. It stated that they were foreigners from France and they could have come into contact with civilians.
The few countries not to have confirmed a case of corona virus include South Sudan.
Africa region was the last continent to be hit by the pandemic and governments seem to have delayed in putting measures to control it. How they tackle this pandemic is what will determine the cases of fatalities reduced.
