Kenya has registered 72 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected with Covid-19 to 1286.
During the Covid-19 briefing today at Afya House in the Capital Nairobi today Monday evening, Health Chief Administative Secretary(CAS) Dr. Mercy Mwangi said of those tested Positive 70 are Kenyans and the remaining two are Tanzanians.
The CAS also stated that the a total of 3000 tests were carried out. Single largest test within 24hours. Fifty-two of them were tested in the capital Nairobi while the rest of the test were spread in all the testing centers.
The CAS also added that Nine more patients recovered from the disease bringing the total recoveries to 392, while one more death was recorded within 24 hours bringing the total fatalities to 52.
In total the government has tested of 61,971 samples across the Country since the pandemic started.
Health department has increased its Capacity by training 11,000 healthcare workers and 60,000 community health workers to increase scope of its of workers. Kenya has also established isolation and quarantine facilities in all counties, “with a total bed capacity of over 5,000,” the statement from the ministry says.
Ms Mwangangi finalized her presser by urged Kenyans to continue adhering to the safety measures, including frequent handwashing, wearing masks in public, keeping social distance and obeying curfew regulations.
She also urged Kenyans to maintain a healthy diet and exercise to improve immunity and take fruits.
